A bit of delay getting today's post up as I had to get a haircut at lunch. I had a mop growing on my dome and something had to be done about it! So something was...
Well for our first Friday night at home as a married couple guess what we did? Yep, Home Depot and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Well Target, not BB+B, but you get the point! It had to be done, what can I say? We did go out on Thursday night with Kelly's work peeps and got pretty tipsy, so it wasn't all that bad, and we met up with Nick and Jules for dinner at the Texas Roadhouse! Then we went over to their place to play a board game, Battle of the Sexes, or something like that. Somehow Nick and I lost!
The reason for hitting up Home Depot was to winterize the apt. and with the snow forecast for Saturday we knew it was time, so we purchased a new digital thermostat and some weather seals for our extremely drafty windows. I installed the thermostat in no time on Saturday morning and then started doing the windows so that our apartment is now warm and toasty, with out the drafts. Of course today it's in the 70's, but I'm sure the 20s and 30s will be back soon.
Saturday night we ventured out in the snow and met up with Kelly's college friend Rachel and her boyfriend Matt. They have a really nice place just down the road in Somerville so we met them over there for dinner. They also wanted to check out the Hawaii photos as they have recently been there too. Rachel cooked a mean lasagna and we finished the night off with a great desert that Kel made, her peanut butter apple crisp special! Of course we also polished off a few bottles of wine along the way which never hurts!
Sunday was spent around the house doing some chores, getting caught up with the bills and things of that nature. Of course I made time to watch the early games before the Pats came on later in the evening. I am always glad when the Eagles and Skins both lose! If you don't know, I have to route against the Eagles because that is where all my new relatives are from, and I lived in DC for 5 and a half years and grew to dislike them too. Anyway...the Pats finally came on and played like crap, but they got lucky and somehow found a way to win. It surely wasn't pretty, but in the NFL a win is a win. Baring a 40 point performance by Ben Roethlisberger tonight I should have a commanding victory over Mores in fantasy and be well on my way to securing a spot in the playoffs. I also found some time during the day to make a killer apple pie....everything from scratch, even the crust. I had a piece later last night and it turned out great! Can't wait for desert tonight!
* Still working on the Maui Recap (okay, I'll be honest, I haven't started it yet), but I'll get it up here sometime soon!
* * A big "shout out" to Val Cleverdon for competing in the Cape Cod Marathon this past Sunday, on you guessed it, Cape Cod. In talking with Clev she did a great job and finished in 234th place out of about 2,000 people, men and women! She's now qualified for Boston in the spring! Hell of a job Val!
