Hey gang...checking in from lovely Barcelona today. Thanks so much for all the nice comments about my exam results. I still don´t think it´s sunk in that i´m actually done with all those exams forever!
So, we left our friends house in Jarnac, France yesteday morning and took 3 trains to get here (one of which involved a very tight connection in Narbonne that I didn´t think we´d make, but we did). We got in around 8pm..just in time for kick off between FC Barcelona and Manchester United. Holy cow...the city was on edge! We quickly checked into our place here (which by the way is a college dorm...i kid you not. We booked it on HostelWorld.com and the price was right...it´s actually the nicest dorm i´ve ever stayed in, even has a little kichenette) and made our way to get some dinner and watch the game. Thankfully Barcelona won 2-0 and everyone was happy, but it set of a slew of honking horns and fireworks all night long.
This city is realy cool...our place is in an older section, near the water, called La Barcelonette. All sorts of cool restaurants and things down here. We did a bunch of the big sites today, the Ramblas, Gaudi buildings, etc, and I think we may hit the beach tomorrow. This city defintely has a more modern edge to it than most of the others we´ve hit on this trip. Lots of great architecture too.
We are here in Barcelona for 3 more nights, then we catch an overnight train to Seville. We´ll be there for 2 nights and then catch a quick train up to Madrid for 3 nights. After that it´s another overnight train to Lisbon for 3 more nights and then we fly back to the good old US of A. My how the time flies...
Hope you all are well!
