After a lot of online shopping and back and forth we finally pulled the the trigger on a back-yard swing set for the girls from a place called ChildLife. We went with a solid, middle-of-the-road set called the Monkey Tower and decided to save a few dollars [about $500] by installing it ourselves.
There are even more boxes not pictured here!
The "before" shot of the back yard!
Maybe we should have spent the $500! There were about 40 pages of instructions and about 1,000 nuts and bolts that needed to be assembled. Thankfully Captain Chaos came over for the day to lend a hand. No way in hell I could have done it without him! It was certainly a 2 man job. And Kelly certainly pulled her weight too...she had to wrangle the girls all day. No small task by any measure!
After a hearty breakfast of Captain's favorite, cream donuts, from McMillan's, we ventured out back and got to work.
A quick break for the girls to try things out!
The day before I had asked J if she was going to help Pop Pop and I out with the swing set. She said no, but that she would bring us some cups of water if we got thirsty!
She was true to her word!
Thanks again Captain! Couldn't have gotten any of this done without ya!
We actually had our first "play-date" on Sunday with some good friends and their daughter to check out the new set. We were outside so much on Sunday that the girls didn't even want to come inside for supper. We had to eat out on the patio! [not that I'm complaining!]
Here's to hoping the novelty doesn't wear off to soon and they love going out and playing for years to come! Thanks again to Captain for the install help and all of the grandparents who gave the girls some money for Christmas that we put towards this set! They LOVE it!
Before and After:
I'll be sure to get some GoPro footage this weekend!!!!
